Thanksgiving season is filled with oversized pumpkins, stuffings inside stuffed people, and family
relatives filling in our home. All of this brings warmth and invites people to grow closer together. Yet, some of us have forgotten the theme of giving throughout the holidays.
Thousands of homeless people cannot spend the holidays with their loved ones, and most of the time cannot receive a hot meal. This suffering is even harder for them because they are alone, and the memories of a joyous season fade away with emptiness and despair. There are also thousands of families who cannot afford to provide a Thanksgiving meal or buy holiday presents for their children next month.
But, this can change by simply lending a giving hand. There are hundreds of volunteer hot spots where anyone can sign up to volunteer. Whether that means passing out hot soup or wrapping presents to give to children, your efforts can help thousands of homeless and other people in need.
Here are some Thanksgiving volunteer locations:
THE MIDNIGHT MISSION serves Thanksgiving dinner to 2,500 homeless men and women every year.
WESTSIDE THANKSGIVING COMMUNITY DINNER AND CELEBRATION needs volunteers for Wednesday, Nov. 21 to help set up for the event and also on Thanksgiving Day beginning at 6:00 a.m.
FOOD ON FOOT is looking for volunteers to help serve dinner from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
These are just a few of the many locations in and around Los Angeles where you can donate your time, money, and effort to help others enjoy a nice, hot meal on Thanksgiving Day.
