With a rockstar quality and a flashy persona, Donald Trump has climbed to the top of the polls in the presidential race. Despite his many attractive qualities, Trump has the tendency to speak his mind without filtering his words. He has garnered millions of people ‘s attention who legitimately believe he can run our country. Yet not all of the attention he has received has been positive.
In a recent attack on John McCain, Trump said to an Iowa audience, “He’s not a war hero. He’s a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren’t captured, OK? I hate to tell you.”
Additionally, Trump believes that he has the right to criticize people who have risked their lives to serve this country when he himself has never served in the military. Trump has not only insulted the military and John McCain but has also gone so far as to insult entire ethnicities by being blatantly stereotypical.
“When Mexico sends its people,” Trump said during his presidential announcement, “they’re not sending the best…they’re sending people that have lots of problems and they’re bringing those problems. They’re bringing drugs; they’re bringing crime. They’re rapists and some, I assume, are good people, but I speak to border guards and they’re telling us what we’re getting.”
Trump’s words are false, his statements regarding Mexican immigrants show that he has no respect for people of color. In fact, Ricardo Arca, a 24-year old Mexican immigrant who works at the Trump SoHo Hotel, was thoroughly offended by Trump’s words.
“I was offended because this is not who we are; this is not who I am; this is not anybody I know who is an immigrant,” Arca said in an interview with the New York Times.
Trump labeled an entire people as “uncivilized.”
How is he still a leading figure in the polls after causing such a ruckus? Well, for starters he is rich. According to Forbes.com, Trump is worth four billion dollars.
Although it is true that Trump has a seemingly unbelievable success story, can he make America great again like so many Americans expect him to? Trump certainly thinks so, and no one else is more confident than he is.
“As you know, I know how to build. I know how to get it done. We’ll have a great wall. We’ll call it the ‘Great Wall of Trump,'” Trump said in his presidential announcement speech.
Trump thinks that he can simply build another Great Wall of China to keep Mexicans out, but America has bigger issues than immigration.
Refugees and immigrants are not America’s priority and the fact that Trump thinks so proves that he is racist and unworthy of being president.
Despite his many bold claims, Trump refuses to elaborate when asked how he plans to carry out his visions.
To put it simply, Trump is just too plain rash to ever accomplish any of his goals.
