With the huge impact Episodes I-VI instilled in countless fans, the newest “Star Wars” movie “The Force Awakens” brings both excitement and apprehension for the continuation of the franchise’s great legacy.
“The Force Awakens” takes place 30 years after the defeat of the Galactic Empire by Han Solo and his allies.
In this movie, Solo and the others face a new threat from the evil Kylo Ren and his army of Stormtroopers.
Trailers indicate that there will be action-packed battles filled with both old and new characters.
“I want to see scenes of the same level of excitement and action as the original trilogy. I’d also love to see how well they incorporate the storylines and characters of the original saga, especially since so much mystery has been surrounding the relationships between the new and previous main characters. I would dislike seeing a repeat of Episodes I-III, where the plots were mundane,” senior Cassandra Soco said.
While some fans want to witness a continuation of the thrilling plot from the last three “Star Wars” films, others want to see an explanation of the mysteries from the previous films and a return to the older films’ special effects.
“I definitely want to see an explanation of what happened to the characters in the time between Episode VI and ‘The Force Awakens’ and I also want to see the restoration of the glory of the Jedi. I don’t want to see the film with CGI effects, but rather to stick with how the original trilogy was filmed with actual sets. I am hoping that the film balances introducing new characters and concepts while being careful not to completely shadow the previous six films,” alumni Ted Sin said.
Although many different expectations for the film exist, in the end, fans everywhere are excited to once again be a part of the “Star Wars” universe and to pass on the legacy of the original series to a new generation.
“I’m just so excited about everything: Han Solo, Princess Leia, Kylo Ren, Captain Phasma, the Millennium Falcon, new light sabers, just the whole Star Wars universe. I am anxious to feel the same excitement and awe I felt as a child watching Star Wars and I want my five year-old nephew to feel the same thing when I take him to watch ‘The Force Awakens’ in the theaters. I want younger audiences to know the experience the epicness of the world of Star Wars,” English teacher Maureen Grandchamp said.
“The Force Awakens” has enlivened fans of all ages as they hope to see a continuation of the original series in the new film as well as new plotlines and characters
