The Performing Arts Club (PAC) provides a creative outlet for students to freely express themselves through singing and dancing. This fosters a safe community where individual talents can shine.
During club meetings, students participate in dancing circles, where students go over coordination and basic flexibility. They also participate in singing circles, where students practice harmonies and blends.
Junior and Dance Captain Justina Estur chooses songs for the club to dance and sing to. They usually dance to hip-hop and K-Pop, while the other group of people sing to pop music and songs from musical theater. This diverse range ensures that members can share their passions for singing and dancing while also creating a close-knit community.
“As a club, we’re really close because everyone always goes to meetings, and since we’re close we can be reliant on each other,” junior Tiara Jade Cruz said.
Every year the officers choose a new PAC mascot. For this school year, PAC’s mascot is an otter. This is representative of the club’s close friendship as otters socialize in groups and stay close together just like the PAC members. The close bonds members have built allow for a comfortable learning setting for members interested in pursuing the arts. On rainy days, club members sing karaoke or watch movies during their meetings, instead of taking part in dancing and singing circles outdoors.
“I do want to pursue a career involving musical theater in the future,” freshman Aryana Callas said. “PAC is a helpful stepping stone to anyone who loves performing casually.”
Each school year, PAC goes on showcases for entertainment purposes, sometimes in collaboration with Choir and Rev Steps. In these showcases, club members participate in a talent show at varying public locations, where they can display their creative and performing talents. At the end of the showcase, officer positions are announced for the next school year.
Another activity that PAC partook in was the homecoming parade in 2023, in which they won second place out of all the groups who participated. Their parade theme was Grease, where they decorated a car made of cardboard and dressed according to the movie.
From their constant practice and hard work, it’s clear that their passion and talent will help them achieve their goals for the club and for the future.
