Fashion Club hosted its first-ever Prom Closet after school on Thursday, April 4, an event in which students and alumni donated their old prom dresses, suits, and accessories. Open to all students, the event had a similar premise to the club’s Granada Closet Thrift Event last October in collaboration with Accidental Music, offering students live music, free clothes, and a fashion show.
Thanks to science teacher Erica Brauer’s coordination, the event was a success as many shoppers walked away with beautiful, like-new prom outfits.
“Prom can be super expensive with the tickets and dinner,” Brauer said. “One of the goals of the event was to help make prom more affordable. We had a lot of people who wanted to donate and get clothes reused.”
DESIGNER PUMPS: Shoe donations shined at this event. Brands ranged from Steve Madden to Prada. The selection was glamorous and colorful, catching the eyes of many students.
DRESS SELECTION: The dresses were presented on clothing racks and organized by color and style. Personal stylists from the Fashion Club helped each shopper look for their perfect dress. Brands like House Of CB were popular among shoppers and the unique designs had them excited to try on their new clothes. The event provided dressing rooms where students could try on their new outfits.
GLITZ AND GLAMOR: The jewelry selection had accessories from earrings to brightly colored necklaces.
HANDBAGS GALORE: The event included a table filled with handbags, containing a wide variety of styles.
