Valentine’s day is here and the Associated Student Body (ASB) is spreading love with their annual Valentine’s grams. With their sales running February 3 through 12 on the quad during lunch, they made it easy for everyone to share a token of their appreciation for loved ones.

This year’s grams featured a keychain teddy bear, a fresh rose or a personalized letter that were delivered to students on February 14 during fourth period. ASB aimed to make a budget-friendly gram priced at $5. The money raised from the Valentine grams allows for ASB to make profit to support the upcoming senior class. These meaningful keepsakes not only support our student activities, but also offer students the perfect opportunity to commemorate the special day.

“Our sales are very effective,” junior and ASB member Isabella Estephan said. “We use what we made from past fundraisers in order to run this one. Proceeds obtained from the Valentines grams go towards the upcoming senior class activities.”

Valentine’s Day grams have been one of ASB’s most effective fundraising events. With ASB selling approximately 200 grams annually, they have helped showcase campus engagement and school spirit. They work diligently as a team to ensure that sales run smoothly despite battling a tight time frame.

ASB began their preparation before winter break, with the junior representatives brainstorming ideas on what would be offered for students to purchase. When returning from break they made their final decision through a collective vote and carefully organized their finances to ensure sufficient materials were available for a successful event.

“ASB does their best to pre-order only what is necessary,” Estephan said. “We analyze our past sales in order to get the most accurate amount of expected orders.”

However with an event of this scale, there is always a possibility of occasional errors such as missing names or room numbers. In this situation, ASB actively works to resolve these issues. Their last resort consists of placing unclaimed grams on the stage during lunch for the intended recipient to claim.

Valentine’s grams are a traditional small gesture that can mean a lot to students on the Granada Hills Charter campus, providing an affordable and convenient way for friends and couples to show their appreciation for one another.
