On March 20, Link Crew, a group of senior and junior mentors, held the first movie night event for the class of 2028. Link Crew leaders chose one of Disney’s most popular movies, “Tangled.”
Freshmen brought blankets and hung out with friends while watching the film. During the movie, Link Crew leaders served popcorn and drinks. Link Crew leaders were also able to enjoy the movie along with the freshmen, adding to the bonds they have built all year.
“We wanted to create one more fun and memorable social event where ninth grade students could come together with their Link Leaders before the school year wraps up,” Link Crew Coordinator Leah Winger said. “It is all about building connections, sharing a great experience, and making the most of our time together before summer kicks in. Movie night is the perfect way to relax, have fun, and celebrate the amazing year we have had.”
Along with the most recent movie night, Link Crew held previous fun events such as the Halloween festival where students enjoyed a maze, popcorn, and crafts. They also helped freshmen with academics in their Cocoa, Cookies, and Cram before finals last semester.
Link Crew trains upperclassmen to become mentors for incoming freshmen. Although it’s meant to help freshmen transition to high school, the group also helps juniors and seniors get a better understanding of what it’s like to be a motivating mentor. Through these events, Link Crew Leaders create a great community where they can make new friends and memories.
“Being a Link Crew Leader has been really helpful for my college admissions as it was a good way for me to come out of my shell and it has helped in strengthening my communication, patience and ability to adapt to different challenges,” senior and Link Crew Leader Kimberly Escobar said.
