Students stand in a crowd around the quad, music is blaring, and cheerleaders are performing stunts preparing for the grand reveal. The concealed theme banner rips and what is unveiled?

Granada Hills Highschool’s 2025 homecoming dance kicked off a night of wizards, witches, and ghouls on Saturday, October 17. It is time for a Harry Potter takeover.

“Out of all of my four years in ASB, this theme has by far gotten the most positive feedback,” senior Isabella Estephan said. “Our co-chairs are the ones that come up with the ideas, and then the class votes on them. I’m happy people are liking our decision.”

At the dance, students experienced a food buffet, homecoming court results, and of course, our famous DJ Lil G. But this year, there was also a special sort of magic.

“I think that the theme is so special, it’s really nostalgic and representative of magic and childhood, which I think is amazing,” senior Ashley Moon said.

The beauty of the Yule Ball theme is that it brings fiction to reality. ASB brought the romantic, formal, and famous dance scenes of the Harry Potter Yule Ball to Granada Hills.

Especially happy about the theme were the students who have lived and breathed Harry Potter since their early childhood days, the students whose memories are filled with wands and castles and adventures.

“I really liked this year’s theme because I’m a little bit of a Harry Potter nerd,” Senior Heyley Ngyuen said. “I am always going to Universal Studios and wearing my robes, so the fact that my Harry Potter passion is being incorporated into my school life is so exciting.”

Although not everyone is a Harry Potter fan, it was pretty hard to be opposed to this year’s homecoming dance which was indeed magical.
