Throughout the world, people are exposed to many different kinds of creativity on brand new levels.

For example, musicians produce songs, artists create paintings, and architects design new buildings. But, perhaps one of the most common forms of creativity is writing; although, not many people realize how hard writing really is.

The thing about creative writing is that most people do not appreciate is as much as they should. Instead, we take the glory of the written word for granted and spend most of our free time watching television or surfing the Internet. But, in the midst of this literary collapse, NaNoWriMo was formed.

NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. It takes place every year during November to celebrate the almost forgotten art of novel writing and to encourage people to write a 50,000 word novel by the end of the month.

The participants can write about any topic they want, as long it meets the creators of NaNoWriMo’s expectations.

People all over the world can participate, including children, students, and adults, as long as they go to the official website for NaNoWriMo and sign up. (

The website for NaNoWriMo even tracks the progress of its participants. It shows the areas around the world where people are writing and how many words they currently have written in their novels. There are already over 300,000 participants.

The website also has a section called “Inspiration,” where writers can go to receive pep talks and find inspiration to write their novel.

By the end of the month, once their novel is completed, the people who work for NaNoWriMo publish multiple copies of the novels written during that month.

The creators of this annual event want to spread originality around the world. Their goal is to encourage and challenge people who have imaginative potential.

Writing a novel is hard work, especially with a one month time constraint. But by adding a little competition makes writing fun instead of stressful.

Anyone who is interested in becoming a writer should definitely try being a part of this occasion because they might be able to publish their novel by the end of November.

There’s no harm in trying.
