The seventh “Star Wars” Episode, “The Force Awakens” comes to theaters on December 18. The film’s high anticipation has led its large fan-base to analyze trailers and other promotional materials, therefore triggering the development of both probable and improbable theories such as the ones listed below.
The most common theory regarding the film is that Rey is Han Solo and Princess Leia’s daughter. The logic behind this theory stems from the fact that actress Daisy Ridley highly resembles Leia and even her potential grandmother Padme. Additionally, her desert planet origins resemble those of Luke Skywalker. Since her last name has not been revealed, it may also give away who her parents are.
Fans know very little about Kylo Ren, which has led them to believe that he may be the son of one the main characters of the saga. His seeming obsession with Darth Vader has influenced veiwers many to consider him to be the son of Luke Skywalker or possibly even the son of Han and Leia, therefore also making him Rey’s twin brother. In addition, other characters such as General Hux and Poe Dameron have also been rumored to be the offsprings of famous characters.
The New Jedi:
A more evident fan theory is that Rey or Finn will be the new Jedi, mainly because “Star Wars” films tend to revolve their storylines around Jedi as the main heroes. Initially, many believed that Rey would possess the Force due to her background and place in the Skywalker family tree, however this theory has changed ever since the lightsaber battle between Finn and Kylo Ren was revealed in August. Therefore Finn, the former stormtrooper is now the front-runner in this theory, yet there is also the possibility that both of these characters end up becoming Jedis.
Fans have further theorized that Han Solo’s death could be a possibility in this episode of the saga. The death of a main character in the new “Star Wars” trilogy is very expected and almost certain because of what has been revealed in the trailer. Actor Harrison Ford wanted his character, Solo, to die an honorable death in “Return of the Jedi” and was reluctant to take on the role once again in 2010.
Many believe that besides the money and the good script, Ford agreed to play Han Solo one last time in order to conclude his character’s story for a final chapter. Rumors say that he may be killed by his possible son, Kylo Ren, while others presume that he will die by the hands of Luke Skywalker.
